new coil, rotor, cap and car is backfiring!


i just put in a new MSD coil cap and rotor. And now my car backfires. would the timing be the cause? if so how should i adjust?

yeah it was running perfectly then started stuttering and backfiring after a few minutes.

If the wires are right, I would put the old stuff back on and see if this fixes it. You may have a bad coil/cap/rotor. It dosent happen too often, but maybe the guy at MSD's quality control was hung-over from a wild night of Jello shots... LOL.

I had the same problem once. I would say at least 90% chance that you messed up the firing order. Check wires for correct order again.
