Re: Where to get EGR solenoid???

I spent many many hours looking for one and never was successful. Every time I "found" one on the net they were not available. I no longer have my list but suffice it to say, they are no longer manufactured by anyone; period.

My mechanic took a napa solenoid for a 5.0 tbi, re-bent the mounting bracket, revised the wiring connections, and re-routed the vacuum lines. It works like a champ. The only hint that it's not an exact match is with a dead cold start the service engine light comes on. After +/- 1 minute idling I can turn the engine off, re-start and the light does not come on - no matter how long I drive her. The light will not come on again until another cold start.

I was distressed and faced with blanking the egr off, now I'm tickled to death!

Trust me, I know how frustrated you are. I have the part number and will try to remember to post it. I probably won't though, so PM me.

p.s. - I was going state, that if you want to continue to look - don't order over the net, telephone the supplier and they will give you the bad news right away, otherwise your credit card will be charged and the end result will be the same bad news; much later of course. I see you are in Norway so calling may not be an option.

I REMEMBERED:

The numbers, for valve, gaskets & solenoid are from the invoice (Chevy Dealer):

FP NUMBER DESCRIP. UNIT PRICE
17113459 VALVE 3.670 116.83
12508751 GASKET KI 3.270 24.77
10105379 GASKET-TH 3.336 8.63
2-2307NP EGR SOL 59.95

Hope this helps friend.

Thanks alot for this information. I understand you have been looking for the same solenoid for a while...Frustrated yeah??...I tried to order one from www.discountautoparts.com because on their website it stands that they had one.

I ordered 2 days ago and has already paid with my VISA card. Today I go the message: unfortunately we do not longer sell this part. The order is cancelled.

I replied that message and said I wanted my money back so I hope that will go good.

I am now using a EGR solenoid that was on my carburetted system but i don't know if that is any good. I just had to modify the connector a little bit. Was almost the same connector....

But my main problem is that I got code 32..the SES light is always on...Sometimes, like yesterday the light was off and the car acted more normal but that is what I think...

My big plan was to change those parts because the EGR valve is brand new, so I was going to change the EGR temp sensor, and the EGR solenoid.

Hmm..I am a little bit frustrated right now...I guess I just have to look for some other solution on this one....But wouldn't that EGR solenoid that NINÅ was showing picture of fit this one??
It looks like the same switch other that the bracket is different.

Re: Where to get EGR solenoid???

Regrettably, I am anything but a mechanic so my assistance will be limited; big time. As I recall, after the mechanic first put it in he had the same issues as you. He "re-routed" the vacuum lines and the code 32 & SEL went away. My ride runs excellent - hope yours will too. Good luck.

Hehe..Thanks alot for the help anyway my friend...
I am not working as a car mechanic either but more industrial machines.
BUT i have almost been living under the hood/car for the last 3 years so I have almost learned myself everyhing I need to know about my own Camaro

My question here further on this thread would be if it is possible to buy the solenoid as NINÅ showed picture of and make that to fit my engine???
