Weird clicking

My car is making the most annoying clicking sound ever when i drive. I used to be able to fix it for a little bit by unscrewing and screwing back on my hub caps. It sounds like it is coming from my wheel wells or somewhere around there. It is like something is catching everytime the wheel rotates. If anyone knows anything about it I would really appreciate it because I hate the noise and i feel like everyone is looking at me like what the heck.
Thanks

Re: Weird clicking

Could be a u-joint. Or it could be in the brakes.

What part of the car is the noise comming from? Drivers side or Passanger side? Front or Back?

Re: Weird clicking

This might seem trivial, but check your tires thoroughly to see if you've picked up a nail somewhere.

Re: Weird clicking

I'll guess brakes...maybe part of the E-Brake system. Odd that the hubcap tightening would help though. Is the noise/clickng in the rear?

Re: Weird clicking

It is coming from both sides and sounds more like it is coming from the front when I am driving and you can only really hear it when it is reflecting off a curb or building or car. I took the wheel off and thought that the weights the added to balance were scrapping the joint that helps the car turn...sorry beyond engines and transmissions dont know what things are called. And i thought it stopped for a little while but then it came back. Threre are also no nails.

I had a nail in the tire of my truck that made a clicking similar to what you described. Drove me nuts for two weeks until I found it. If your tires are clean, then I would jack the front end up and spin the wheels manually to see if you can replicate the sound.
