Hey guys. I was wandering, my throttle has alot of "flat spots" below about 75%. do you think I should replace the TPS? I can gently push the gas when I take off and it will start going, then it will flatten off until I give it a little more gas, It's just in certain spots below about 3/4 throttle. I have seen something in the Summit catalog that plugs in-line with the sensor that's supposed to get rid of dead spots, but should I try to replace the sensor first?

 

does it appear to bog down or just lose power like its starved, or does it appear to lose spark?

 

No, none of the above. It's like im letting off the throttle. the power seems to level out until i give it a little more gas, then it sets me back in my seat.

 

There should be instructions on the forum showing you how to test the TPS.

I believe it is bad in this case but allways test instead of throwing parts at a car.

if the voltage dips and spikes when you open the throttle ( slowly and smoothly ofcourse then it's bad.

You'll need to set the new TPS anyway (if it's an adjustable style with slots) and this method will come in useful.

If you dont have a Volt/multi meter you can buy a cheap one for $5 or so at some auto parts stores.
