what cam for hot street motor
im building a new motor its going to be for the street but aiming at maximizing the horsepower but still need to retain streetability (rpm range, vacuum for brakes). I'm almost done with the short block, 355 with flat top pistons. Heads are going to be a set of ported 202 camel humps or vortecs. Intake will be performer rpm or z28 hi rise. Roller cams are out. Hydraulics are out im trying to make power here dont care about adjusting valves every so often. Going with solid flat tappet. 3000 stall, 3.73 gears, 700 double pumper.

I love my Z-25....
Comp's xe's give a smidge more lift, but at the expense of being hard on valve train...
My z-25 idles like a dream, and has AMAZING midrange. That's the 108LSA for ya. I'd highly recommend it.
I have a video of me driving the car up on youtube, sonix69 I think. That was last summer, i've made more changes since.

i would run the vortec heads, Hot Rod did a motor with vortecs and the comp XE282 this is also what i am running. I like this setup.

Definitely the Vortec heads. don't do anything to the intake bowls or seats, be sure the intake valves have a 30 degree back cut and undercut stems. For the exhausts, go to 1.60" valves, with a 5-angle valve job: 15/30/45/60/75 degree cuts, taper the guides, blend the 75 degree cuts into the ports, polish the entire exhaust port, use valves with the same features I typed for the intakes. This is the best I ever found after 60 Vortec ports on a new SuperFlow 1020 flowbench.
