305 tbi setup

Hello I'm new just joing recently to help my knowledge of building a 3rd gen
"Cheap. Good. Fast. Pick two." -Old hotrodding maxim.
DIOADIR!
Camaro 3rd gen v8 w/305 tbi (possibly 350 of some sort or something?)

I would like to reach 12s or possibly 11s, **** even 10s! lol on a budget, along with beating my friends 07 c6 6spd and my other friends impreza wrx stage 2(or 3?..hes running high 12s awd...)

what would be the cheapest and easiest way doing this? keep the engine
I have(305 tbi) or swaping(swaping what and what tranny?)

I plan on purchasing a camaro for about 500bucks, no more than 1k, and run it till its death then either swap the engine for 350 or rebuild it and mod it, you wanna work your way up, removing parasitic power and getting the hp/trq to the pavement, for the 305 tbi, starting from the tires/rims I selected:
p245/50vr16 going with z28 rims(if anyone knows of any other lighter and better looking rims PLEASE LET ME KNOW!)
Lsd 10bolt or 9bolt(still undecided)
3.42 gears(i want 3.72 but what would be the pros and cons..)
baer disc brakes/lines,z rate semi metallic pads
high quality front end rebuild kit
front/rear sway-bars w/ poly bushings
front/rear strut tower braces
KYB performance coil springs, performance shocks and performance struts(basically coilover kit?)
Edelbrock heavy duty lower control arms
Edelbrock tubular pan-hard rod
Steve Spohn Performance Engineering Torque arm, and brackets to lower your control arms for even more traction / handling
weld-in SFCs(after exhaust is put on)
Another piece of suspension equipment is the lower brace which ties the lower frame together

Drivetrain!
well I want a manual but this is what I have found and I believe 700r4 aren't manaual
short throw shifter and weight shift ****
B&M's "Transkit"
B&M Shift Improver kit, stage 2, street / strip for firmer shifts
new transmission mounts as well, poly/solid composite
lock-up torque converter
Deep Pan, again from B&M, tranny cooler one level above the car weight
remote transmission filter setup
B&M th700-r4 kickdown kits
TPIS aluminum driveshaft kits
Stage 2 or high clutch/flywheel light weight
Exhaust flow!
Edelbrock TES (Tubular Exhaust System)
RT high flow cat converter, with a 3" inlet and 3" outlet
thermal header wrap

Air induction and cooling!
arger air cleaner, flowing cold, fresh air to a low restriction K&N filter, with aftermarket cold air induction system
good quality thermostat lowering from 195deg. to 165deg w/ Hypertech Thermomaster chip
higher capacity aluminum water pump
high capacity light weight aluminum radiators(3 row unit)
high capacity fan(maybe 2?)
engine oil cooler of proper capacity is mandatory and larger capacity oil filter A high volume oil pump with Synthetic oil
ALSO a little secret to reduce heat under the hood...Theres a rubber strip when you lift the hood, and look all the way to the back, if you remove it you'll have about 1/4 - 1/2 inch gap. This is a gap which will greatly alow hot air to escape and cooler air in, also for ram air. don't worry about water getting in the engine bay if it does it will just run down the firewall. ahh yes where did i leave off....
TBI spacer and TBI injector spacer(possibly 2 but clearence issues)
high flow TB assembly, lager injectors, meter body gasket kit and the fuel nut gasket as well(a few extras for spares)
adjustable fuel pressure regulator
high pressure TBI fuel pump
high peformance capacity fuel filterEdelbrock
Performer TBI aluminum intake manifold

Heads!
cams/camshaft??? I do not know what to purchase...
Edelbrock's true roller double roller timing chain
double idler timing gear set
Parasitic power loss under the hood!
March underdrive pulleys

Ignition and charging system!
MSD 6AL(X) series control box with a MSD Blaster Coil providing the firepower. A high performance distributor (MSD small top or other)
MSD 8.5mm SuperConductors
wire loom set
AC Delco spark plug, properly heat range mated
battery and alternator is putting out the proper power.........
O YEA BTW REMOVING BACK SEATS AND SPARE TIRE KIT!!

Well thats kind of what I was looking forward to for my 305 tbi, what would my possible quater mile be? If there is anything that I have forgotten or someone can give me a few pointers on what to do to reach my goals, that would be greatly apreciated. If I do fall through with swaping in a low milaged engine, what would you guys perfer? I was thinkg a 350 but I don't know what tranny to use, I came from the honda see tired of that bull crap, most of my friends yea your gonna build 10sec car thats only gonna last 10 days, I really want to prove them wrong!...also if this is the wrong section to put this thread please let me know, thanks!

Re: 305 tbi setup

I hate to tell you, but with all the items you listed you would be spending a lot of money to have a bunch of high quality parts that will get you to probably around 15 seconds in the 1/4. If you really want to do this on a budget, you should get rid of the 305 tbi and swap in a carbed 350. There is a tbi board here where you can find lots of good information about the system if you still want to go that way. You could also swap in a TPI system but it has some serious limitations if you are trying to get to the 10's. Regardless of what system you choose it is going to take a lot of research and learning on your end. By your list it appears you don't have a whole lot of knowledge about these cars. You can learn a ton reading other people's build threads. These cars are very different than the honda stuff you are used to.

Also I think you will find that most of the people here are easier to get along with than on most of the import boards.
