running twin resonators directly off headers as a dump.

what exhaust parts are needed to run a single resonator directly off each header and run it out the sides. this is on a drag car and i want to get rid of the y pipe. i also have a three bolt flange coming off of the headers so help would be great if anyone has done it.

Pictures would help.

My headers don't have a flange but the same idea can be used with a flange adaptor. The collector slips over the primary tubes and has a straight tube outlet. I use a strap clamp to attach another tube onto the collector then use 2 elbows to direct the exhaust out towards the rockers where the mufflers are. The mufflers now have turnouts on the outlets so the exhaust doesn't blow back onto the tires.

i know your car is a dedicated strip car. mine will be recreationally street driven and driven to the track, would i have any heat issues with the floor pan?

In your first post, you said it was a drag car and nothing about being street driven.

I have no issues with floor pan heat but I also don't have long run times to worry about it. If you were going to drive for an hour or 2 then it may get a little warm.

If you're that concerned about it, put a heat shield above the muffler. The factory uses a heat shield above the catalytic converter but it also gets a lot hotter than a muffler ever will.

You can also take it into an exhaust shop. They can easily fab up a system that will work.

it wont be driven longer than an hour on the street (45 mins to the track).

i didnt think there would be a heat issue especially since as you stated cats get alot hotter than mufflers/resonators.

i will get that done after i get the 357 in the car. i got a buddy who would fab something up.

Similar to a factory style like this

I welded 3/8" rod to the pipe and to the underside of the car pointing in the opposite directions then slid the hanger on. Since those pictures were taken, I've also installed a hanger at the front to keep it from rotating down.

You can just barely see it behind the muffler
