Pesky oil leak I can't trace down!

I have a small oil leak coming from the rear of the motor somewhere. I replaced the intake gaskets thinking it might have been the rear RTV on the china wall. Fixed that, it's not leaking from there. It's not the rear main seal either, I checked that. It seems like it doesn't leak until after my car is shut off from running, then I will have a couple small puddles the size of a 50 cent piece (sometimes more, sometimes less) under the oil pan towards the trans. Any ideas? I was thinking maybe a valve cover but I really am not sure.

It's just really more annoying than anything else.

Check the oil pressure sensor. Top (driver side) rear of the engine. It is known for leaking.

check OPS and rear of valve covers. always diag leaks from top to bottom, look for trace and follow to its source. if its too messy or you cant see it wash the motor (or just the rear in this case), pour in some oil UV dye, and watch for the leak with a UV light. if its not visible from the top the uv light should make the path obvious from below.

Thanks for the replies. I tightend up the OPSU with the special socket, but I didn't put new pipe dope on the threads... I may take it back off and try again with some pipe dope on the threads. It didn't seem to be the valve covers or the dist gasket.

They usually leak on the crimp where the two halves meet. Tightening it won't help.

Unless the pipe dope is conductive it will interfer with a one wire sensor making metal to metal to complete the ground circuit.
