A loss in performance and annoying noise
A little while ago i was adjusting the timing on my motor (305 c.i. 1982 camaro). I changed the position of the vacume advance, but to do so i had to take out the distributor and adjust the V.A. to allow more clearance (i put it all back together correctly). Right around the same time, a loud noise, something like a chattering chipmonk (sorry for the alliteration). I dont know where the sound is comming from but its only when im driving, not in park reving. When driving i'd say the car makes the sound from anywhere from 1/2 to full throttle, but just babying it to go get groceries it wont do it (basically when i push it, it makes this annoying sound).
Coupled with this is a loss in performance from when before the sound started. Any ideas on what the problem is? I was thinking it was the distributor not put in right or something but i checked it and it seems right. Think it could be a transmission or u-joint problem?
