mark 5 block with mark 4 head

mark 5 block with mark 4 head

I have a mark 5 block and i want to use my mark 4 heads.
i have head gaskets part# FelPro 1037 but i want to use ICS Titan Head Gaskets.
I have 467ci 10.2:1cr 174 supercharger on e85 with nitrous.

help help...

Contact SCE and ask them. A MLS gasket from Felpro or Cometic is more than enough.

I went to SCE websight and there custermer service was offline.

You have a nice car. I have a 87 TA 467ci 174 supercharger th400 moser ford 9" 3.55 minispool. all in the floor.

I did run it 3 years ago with the wrong head gasket it vaporlocked really bad. it had the th400 and stock 9 bolt 2.73 gears and a old pair of nova headers cramed in there with a single 3" EX.

the car ran 7.7 in 1/8 with a soft launch didnot want to brake nuthin.
this is still a full street car.

Your 7.7 would be equal to a 12.0 1/4 mile run. Not bad for a "street" car. My car is 100% race and not street legal.

Last year I blew out a 1017-1 gasket and replaced it with another 1017 to finish the season. I bought some Felpro MLS when I changed the heads over the winter but haven't had any track time yet this year. Give the MLS gaskets a good coating of copper spray on both sides and install. They're reusable and unless you damage them somehow, they're the last head gaskets you'll have to buy.

I bilt my brother a 453ci 440 for his 4000 pound charger 12:5cr 399hp nitrous LOL 7.40 on motor street car. runs on e85. we blew out a felpro gasket went with a whut we were told by summit was a titan ics coper gasket. well we blew that out to. then i relised it was a coper gasket not titan we O ringed the block and have no problem now...

Well with my TA i want to skip all that and get a good gasket.
But that gen 5 block is hard to work with thay changed the water ports with the deck. I got mark 4 rectangle port heads i want to use.

You got 14:1cr you blew that gasket that can only handle 12.5:1cr to 13:1 safely.

with my B&M 174 supercharger making 5 psi of boost that i had last time i ran it. befor i restriped it. With the stock cr of 7:1 + boost it made 13:1cr at full boost by the B&M paper work. but now i have 10.2:1cr + boost that is 16.2:1cr
scarry i now but whut the ell i will try eney thing to catch that charger that I bilt..

When you start getting that kind of compression ratio, a copper head gasket and o-rings in the deck and in the head is about the safest way to go. No head gasket is completely fail proof.

Someone had to of dun this i am sur i am not the first to do this..
even if i went to Oring i still need a copper gasket and if i can find that i can cross refernce that with titan.. thay need to put there custermer service back on line

Thank you for the help i not trying to b a know it all cuz i sur dont. just trying to talk it out.. thay make bbc heads that fit both 4 and 5 blocks why not a gasket....just want my car back on the road and this is stoping me big time.

This ishope i dont getfor saying that. just had to do that LOL.. Later DuDe:::: you need to juce your 540 just a little so you can use the parachute mount.

You have to use a Gen V gasket to fit the block. The head is okay with a Gen V gasket.

Since the Gen V blocks aren't as beefy, most high HP BBC's are Mark IV or Gen IV.

Cool well i will try that,cuz i dont have much to go on. i used a mark 4 gasket but it vaporlocked it did'nt work to well
