Bleeding the Gas lines! HELP

Hi, Just switched out the fuel pump on my 87 iroc z. I tried starting the car and it will crank but wont start. I think the culprit is air in the lines from when i had them disconnected to replace the pump. How do i get the air out? The car is a TPI not carbeurated

that happens on its on. sounds like pumps not runing thats were i would start get a pressure gage and if u still think air is in the line there is a bleed off button that will open your fuel rail up. i really think its the conection at the pump

When i turn the ignition to run the pump starts, and we unhooked one of the lines and some gas does come out but air as well. We tested the pump with a 12v battery before we put it in the car and it was pumping at about 55psi. This is really starting to irritate me because ive been so long trying to get this car running good again. But thanks for your help, any more suggestions?

Re: Bleeding the Gas lines! HELP

Last spring when I changed my tank and pump, I disconnected the return line near the tank and let it pump fuel thru the system. I was hoping to flush the system out and prevent injector problems. Some nasty looking stuff came out at first, glad I didn't let it push that into my tank. There is a connector sticking out of the harness right near the thing you unhook to set timing (ESC connector). If you apply 12V from the battery to that connector, the pump will run even with the key off. Aparently the factory used it to prime the system since it's called the "fuel pump priming connector" in my service manual.

Re: Bleeding the Gas lines! HELP

sounds to me like your pick up either isnt connected or has a hole in it
you shouldnt need to bleed fuel lines on a gas engine the injectors will let the air out of a completly dry fuel line in about 2 revolutions.
how much gas is in the tank?
if not much add 3-5 gallons and see if the pump works right. if it does then its time to pull the pump out again and check the pick up and pump connections.
