i ve got a 305 h.o. cc carb roller cam motor i am putting this into an s dime being that the recent ice storm destroyed my maro got the 700 r4 with a 2000 stall converter will any hydro cam with a 2000 to 5800 rpm range be used with the stock heads and springs or if not what is the largest i can go on stock springs and heads

valvesprings are a wear item, and while the wear can't be seen, they aren't million-mile items. And since they're so cheap and easy to replace, why not? Also lets you replace the valve seals. For a cam, I suggest the COMP XE268 as being about the biggest you might get away with, you still might end up with clearance issues, either between the rocker slots and the rocker studs, or between the retainers and the valve seals. Are you on www.s10forums.com? I just posted my current 350-into-S10 project. for cheap springs, I suggest www.competitionproducts.com, search 98111 for the springs, $26/set.

Oh wait, I forgot you mentioned it's got roller lifters. The LT4 cam, (not the LT4 HOT cam) woild be perfect for you, it will like your converter, it's fine for reaching past 5800 rpm, and it doesn't have too much lift for your clearances I mentioned. Still, combine that with those 98111 springs.
