Best place for a lift?
Hey guys, got my car here at the lot with me today, gonna do an oil change. What are the best places to use a hydraulic lift on the bird. I looked under it and nothing jumped out at me, and I dont have the owners manual for the car. Any info would be appreciated.

The brand is American Lift EQ model no TPO-9. It is a 9000 ib hydraulic with the swingarms on each side. The pad that contact the car are about 8 inches across. And the arms are extendable up to about 5 feet total. 4 arms -2 each side. Hope that helps?

Um yeah...where is that? Sorry I sound like a fool, but I have never had one of these cars on a big lift before. Normally at home I just use the k member in front or the axle in the back.

Just in front of the LCA mount for the rear, and as far forward on the front subframe (beside the transmission) as possible for the front. You might want to pick up the A-arms in front if possible for the sake of balance.
The pinch welds are where you put the stock emergency jack.

pinch welds worked fine, they just didnt look too sturdy to me, but they did the trick, changed the oil and the oil sending unit.

Re: Best place for a lift?
I wouldn't trust the pinch welds, on a flat lift pad. The factory scissor jack has a "groove" those sit in & are saddled on both sides as well as the bottom.
The car won' FALL, but the pinch welds can fold & the car drop a bit. Main concern would be for those points, would be the paint cracking and rust developing there.

Re: Best place for a lift?
on our lift which is a 9000lb hydraulic drivechain Weaver twin poster with pads i use the subframe on the front and the pinchwelds in the rear
never any problem
just dont put the fronts on the floor support by the subframe they will collapse i have seen including the oens on my 82 t/a are collapsed due to PO's using floor jacks on them.
good luck
