Turns over VERY slow when hot...

Is this heat soak? From what I can tell heat soak just makes thes tarter not work at all... so what can cause the car to just turn over really slowly other than a bad battery?

If I give it 5 minutes or so, it turns over normally. It's a fresh battery, and I'm getting 13-14v across the battery terminals when running.

It's just weird...

it is most likely the starter motor..is the bendix throwing out the small gear to the flywheel like it is suppose to

I would do a voltage drop test to see if the battery cable are good.

Re: Turns over VERY slow when hot...

My car has done this to me before, yes heat soak can cause the starter not to operate at all.

About a year ago before I rigged my electric fans to work my car would overheat at idle all the time, so I would shut the car off at idle if it started overheating really bad (steaming, gauge all the way past 260). And one time I did that and when the light turned green it wouldn't start, I had to wait like five minutes for it to crank very slowly.

It still does it sometimes now if I have been driving the car for a while and I park and I shut the car off and need to fix the park job and I key it again and it's a little slow but it always starts.

A torque multiplying mini starter will fix this or heat wrap for the starter usually helps.

Also make sure you have the correct output battery for your car. I'm not sure what ours should be but around 570 CCA should be good I think.

Re: Turns over VERY slow when hot...

best thing for heat soak is to get one of those starter wraps from summit racing. Makes a huge difference.

Yes, probably, especially because you have long tubes, get that starter wrap that xlr8tor recommended, that should do the trick.
