cam questions?
first off im new to this forum and only 20 years olds so i have tons of questions but to start out im going to try to start with what cam i want and get other part base on that. with that said i have a 305 tbi with a 5speed i got for 100 bucks it came out of camaro between 1988 to 92 the so it is a roller motor but was wondering if the ZZ4 cam work well with the 305 ive hear mixed things about it it seems like what im going for a bit more performace but a smooth idle, but ive heard that it may be to much for the pushed in studs in the heads and of couse the springs but i plan on geting aftermarket heads so that should not be a issue, sorry its so long I could go on forever asking stuff but ill stop there

Re: cam questions?
I'm thinking 300rwhp is a bit lofty to get with that. A budy of mine did run mid 13's with his which was probably about 250rwhp, but the same top end on a 350 block got him almost a second for around a 50rwhp gain. The TPI stuff I know isn't the greatest for top end power, but someone else would know better than me on that. The T5 trans. isn't known for its power handling either. Realistically there's much more potential starting with a 350 motor and some other trans IMO.

Re: cam questions?
yes i know if i could find a 350 i would totally put that in but let me just tell you what i had in mind for the motor 305 or 350. first off a basic rebuild to get it back to new as for cams not sure but i like the ZZ4 cam a lot as for heads in year one there are some some aluminum corvette heads that came on 87-91 vettes valve sizes are 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust thats cutting close on the 305 but just right for 350! has a 60cc chamber size and will accept valve lifts to .575''. As for a tpi Accel/lingenfelter has a stand alone small block street ram system that comes with every thing i need the get it running. As far as trannys go i want i standard and had may eye on a GM Tremec TKO 5 speed and now that i look at all of this the 350 would be a better option. i might put that 305 in my s10!!!
