New car, new cam with pictures.
Well a couple weeks back I traded my 96 taurus for an 88 Camaro. He wanted $2500 for it but we pretty much broke even when I showed him the car. It does need a new cam though and I've never done one so hopefully I can get my dad to help me. It has a 355 in it, t-tops, it was just rebuilt a couple hundred miles ago but the cam he got machined wasn't machined right...
Anyways heres pics! Let me know what you guys think.

Now just paint that engine a decent color, fix the gxf, get matching wheels and some valve covers and you'll have a decent looking car! I guess it's a lot better than what I started with...
That engine looks too dirty to only have a couple hundred miles on it. Unless it already had that intake and paint.
I doubt that the cam 'wasn't machined right', he probably chose the wrong cam or messed up the installation somehow, but since cams do have part numbers you can see what your cam is before you replace it.

Looks like it's got the pre-'87 350 in it. It's not a bad looking car. The engine paint is just plain weird though. I'd also ditch the flex fan and throw some electric fans in there. Bon chance mon ami!

Re: New car, new cam with pictures.
Its been sitting for a while, but I can get in it and start it and drive it around some so I'm happy. It has a brand new cam in the back seat along with a new gasket set to put it in and a new msd coil and plug wires a new style alternator too and all of this stuff is still in the box. It doesn't have valve covers on it either but theres a brand new set of those back there too lol. And I know the rims don't match but it came with 6 IROC rims so it does infact have a matching set. I don't really like the color of the block so I'll probably repaint it while we have it out and try and shine up that holley performer intake some. I'm gonna look for a serpentine setup to put on it too, and thats a brand new carb so I'm pretty happy about that. I think for trading off a ford taurus I came out pretty well. The t-tops are original so I have the key and it has power locks and windows and they all work, the hatch even works but the interior looks like hell...he used camo duct tape to do the dash cause he was missing dash pieces...

Re: New car, new cam with pictures.
Alright, well its been a while and I've had some problems with the car but its been running great for almost a year now. We decided to go on a vacation this weekend and before we went I decided to give the interior of the car a little freshen up.
A little backstory first, though. Last year we bought my fiance a nice 4th gen for $1200. I told her when we got it the interior of it would end up in my third gen one of these days, because it was pretty much in pristine condition. Heres her car.

And here is my interior. You can tell why I might want to put a little work into it.

Well about 2 months ago she decided to see the scenic side of some trees. She was ejected out the back glass of the car and a part of a tree fell on her. Luckily, she was alright.

And here is my interior with her front and back seats in the car lol. Its funny how things go.

And here is the car now. This was taken about an hour ago.

Shiznitz!!! Man, I'm glad to hear she's ok!!!!
Your interior looks alot better.
Did you get the trans for a back up incase you need it,
or would it not work for you? Wheels?

Re: New car, new cam with pictures.
Well if her rims would fit I would take them and put them on my trans am but they're a different offset so they won't work.
It was just a 3.4L V6 so the trans was a 60 degree instead of a 90 so that wouldn't work either. Which sucks cause hers is a manual and mine is an auto
I'll save it and the motor anyways, in case I ever get a V6 third gen I'll have something nice to put in it
I'm changing out the carpet in a few days, more pictures to come!
