Re: Top end setup help :P
looks okay to me. Do headers and a cat-back. Get at least a 3.73:1 axle. 4.10 if your car was an LO3 / T5 to start with and you still use that T5. Fifth is taller for the LO3 version than the LB9 version.

there's really no cause for concern bolting aluminum heads to your iron block.

Re: Top end setup help :P
SBCs really don't have any issues with aluminum on iron. All the bugs were worked out decades ago. These days, just use Fel-Pro gaskets and skip the silicone, you're all set.

Re: Top end setup help :P
Dont buy the cam new. You can pick these up used from various LTx forums for cheap. Its a very popular cam and you can save a bunch of money just by finding one used. Rollers dont wear out.
Else get a similar shelf grind from summit racing that you like.
For cam to heads, look at the springs that the heads come with and decide from there if they will work or not. Need to know max lift capability, seat pressure of the spring, and open pressures, as well as spring rate. That will give an idea what control the spring will have over the cam lobe. Hotcam isnt that aggressive so most hyd. roller springs will handle it.
For heads, i dont know too much on the edelbrocks but for same price you have some options. You can have brodix IK180's or 200's which will also do great on that motor with the hotcam. There are others too.
Brodix 180's and 200's are available with comp's 987 springs which are decent hyd. roller springs which will work great for that hotcam.
Not sure of the exact edelbrock specs but they are a 1.44-1.46 spring and i think they are only 100 lbs on the seat which is stock spring like specs. I'd rather see more spring on the roller than that. Dont want float over 5500 rpm where that cam will want to go.
Performer rpms seem to be decent heads just dont know too many setups using them. Advertised in the 240 cfm range, but I have heard edelbrock numbers are usually lower than advertised more so than other companies. Dont have any data to back that up but can look into it. IK180s match them in flow, IK200's are near 260+ range, not great for a 200cc head but the price is nice.

Re: Top end setup help :P
HSR is drilled for both style of heads so no worries there. I dont know much about how the edelbrocks perform but they are probably more than enough head for that setup. Hotcam with supporting bolt ons is usually a 330whp cam on stock LT1 heads which flow about 225cfm. Any of those 180cc heads flowing in the 240 cfm range should pick up another 20whp. 350whp out of a hotcam is doing fairly well. I have seen 380 in a 383 but most 350 stock bottom end cars will make in the 340-350 range with decent heads.
Thats a good street setup that wont be too hard to tune. Its your preference on heads. As long as the springs look good for a hydraulic roller I think it will control the valves just fine. On brodix website, it says 987 springs which were popular with LT1 guys doing cams, same with 986 springs. Both have decent rates for the hotcam. LT4 springs that come in the kit are surprisingly weak at 100lbs on the seat and barely have enough lift room. I know alot of guys dont run them and some do but I'd go with more spring. Since most heads with a dual spring have alot more pressure than 100lbs, I think you will be ok.

Re: Top end setup help :P
180s are better for a 350 CID engine. Higher air velocity and better throttle response. Better low end torque. I bought Dart 180s for my son's 350 LT1, so I practice what I preach, LOL
Bigger isn't necessarily better.

I run (and recommend) fill-bodies, NSA Scorpions. I'm running them on my 388 and installed them on my son's 96 LT1 last summer. FlatlanderRacing.com $222 last time I checked.

Re: Top end setup help :P
what do you guys think of these Proform aluminum self aligning rockers?
Proform #778-66915C
SB-Chevy Self-Aligning Rockers
For centerbolt valve covers
1.6 ratio, 3/8" stud
160 bucks for the set of 16 seems decent

900$ vs HSR for $375
budgets tight so HSR wins lol

Re: Top end setup help :P
now i had read somewhere on here something about the manifold to cyl head bolts
not lining up just there being 2 different angles they can come in.
took a look at my HSR and its much more angled then my stock( being almost compleatly flat)
