Grinding sound - 350 TPI
Grinding sound - 350 TPI
Goood morning. I haven't been able to drive my baby this summer because of this aweful grinding sound i've been getting. At first I thought it was the calipers locked up, but I checked em' out and everything looks fine on that front.
It almost sounds like a manual car is grinding gears, but it's an automatic.
Troubleshooting has been dificult. I tried putting the rear end on jackstands and driving it in place essentially, and it wont' do it for me. Going straight up and down the parkinglot without any turns results in no sound, but if I take it around the block, after the first bend it starts grinding. It *sounds* almost like the bottom of the car is scraping off the pavement, which it's clearly not (I have at least 8 inches of clearance.)
One person I spoke to said it may have something to do with a grease issue on the rear axel. I've never heard of that before, so I figured I'd see what you guys thought.

Does it only do it when you are turning? If so, then it sounds like you need to clean out the rearend and put new oil and positrac additive in it. Sounds awful doesn't it?
