Re: 86 IROC shift **** slides down
I don't understand why mine does the same thing. The previous owners wrapped it all up with electrical tape. I pulled the square shifter **** out of another junkyard camaro and it doesn't fit. I has a retaining clip in it. But I don't see a clip for the round shifter *****.
Anybody got some ideas on good aftermarket shifter ***** for the automatics?

I think I replaced this clip, but I believe this clip is for holding the button on.

Mines so rigged up! I took it off and looked at it... They have a quarter underneath the tape where my button is susposed to be
. the only nice thing about the way it was done is I just push down on the whole ****.
But I tried to make one of the square ***** fit. And it no worky.. The shaft is a different size and where the clip goes is total different. Is our ***** actually held on by the button maybe? and the **** is just a press fit onto the shaft?

That's a nice diagram. I still cannot see what holds the ball from sliding. I replaced a clip that broke when I took the ball off to fix the ashtray. I have 2 extra clips btw.

Re: 86 IROC shift **** slides down
