Need advice before purchase

I'm looking to buy an '86 Z28 IROC and sell my '91 RS. The friend that is selling it says that he's still in the project phase of this car so doesn't know every detail about the car, but I will try to go look at it soon so I wanted to get some ideas from you guys of where and what I should be looking for.

The 86 has no motor or transmission in the car, but does come with it. He said that he pulled a 350 from an 89 fullsize van with it's transmission and torque converter. Obviously the tail shaft would have to be changed before I could put it in the car. He also said that the windshield needs to be replaced due to a hole in it. The transmission crossmember is also missing.

But the biggest question, minus whatever you guys bring up, is that he said the engine bay area was chopped pretty good from the previous owner trying to pull his motor out. The motor he bought is a TBI'd 350 so it would need the harness to go with it....however, I didn't think that they came that early so I checked in it. I asked for the vin and researched it.
The vin says that it came from the factory as a 4-bbl LG4 and the provisions in the car indicate the manual transmission.

Since my friend didn't know, or research it before he purchased the motor and trans I'm trying to find out now before I buy it from him. What WILL this car have in the wiring harness? This car will NOT have a computer installed at all(other than for the computer controlled carb)...right? What should I see on the harness for the connections? What type of plug does it use for the alternator?

Thanks in advance
Leon

Normally I wouldn't be tempted by something else since I already have one, but this one is much further along than what I have already in pretty much everything. The only issue is the drivetrain, and since I would be changing the 91 over to carb and 350, this would actually put me further ahead since I can get the drivetrain working the way I want it...mostly.

PLus this friend only wants $500 for it and I know that I can get more than that out of my current '91 and since everything that I would use for the 86 will have been everything that I would have used for the 91 it would be no different. I still have a Performer intake manifold and a Street Fire Distributor waiting to be used, the only stuff I'll have to get is the carb and fuel pressure regulator. I'll just be further along in the project build than I am right now.

Essentially I wan't to pull anything engine computer controlled out and replace it with the older style stuff, which I shouldn't have to worry about with this 86. I'm just asking for any suggestions from anyone with what to look for and where to look for it. Damage, wires, computer...anything you think may be important. This 91 has been my first camaro and I want to be sure that I'm looking for stuff that will keep me from regretting the purchase later, by that I mean bigger dollar stuff like twisted bodies.
