loctite red or blue?

loctite red or blue?

I have my engine down to the long block for a cam swap and some other freshing up. Which loctite should I use, red or blue?

what exactly are you looking to loctite during the install? There's not too much you'd want to use that stuff on during a cam install.


in general: blue if you would at some point think you may need to remove the part, red if you don't ever plan on removing the part.

if we're talking rtv, rule of thumb: black for areas with oil, blue for areas with coolant/water, red/copper for high temp.

I was going to use it on the spider holdown, cam retainer bolts, and cam sprocket bolts. I've read in a couple places that you should use it on the cam sprocket bolts and as for the other place, since I just wanted it for reasurrance.
