what year is my engine????

on the back it says gm5.7lg and closer to the top cant get them all but ends with 507.was told its an 87 up 350 but how can I tell that year it is?

By the casting code which is usually close to the casting number.

I think it is an '87....I believe the last digit in that three digit code is the year of block....not for sure though
