My friend just blew his small block.
He had a 355sbc, forged bottom end with a xe272 (i think thats what he said) cam, Edelbrock E-tec 200cc heads, Edelbrock Performer Air Gap E-tec manifold, with a vs750dp. He put a rod through the block missing a 5 to 4 shift, hit 2nd. Game over. He asked me if he could put all of this stuff on his original lb9 (i think thats the motor code) 305 bottom end, as he sold the top end he already had. I told him physically everything would bolt up, but he'd lose compression in my opinion, and maybe he'd need other stuff that I wouldn't know about. And that brings me here, he said he wasn't going to run it in the 305 bottom end for more than 2-3 months, as thats how long it's going to take him to save up for a block and some machine shop time. As for the 305 bottom end it's all stock, except he had put in stock size hypereutectic flap tops in it. So anyone know what else he may need, and or if this will even run?
Edit: it may be a xe268 cam? He'd have to answer his phone for me to be accurate.

Well the cam was lubed with comp cams pre lube (all we had lying around) installed, heads and intake are on. Distributor and carb tomorrow. Anyone think this may not be a great idea? Cause I'm not too sure.

Should be fine honestly. It will lower compression some but you should still pretty well be good to go!

I would like to see what is runs in the 1/4 with those mods... Any way you can get him to run it before he slaps it all in the new block?
