car not getting the right spark **UPDATE**
I just recently dropped a 350 into my 84 trans am and the first day i went to sart it, it was running good didn't let it run long beacause of the water pump not being hooked up. had it running 3 times that day and it sounded fine. two days later it just turns and turns doesnt even trie to fire up. took a plug wire off stuck a screw driver in it and put it to ground and it gets two sparks and dies no more spark. if you turn the key off and then trie to start again it does same thing couple sparks then nothing. we tried 3 different modules, 2 different caps, rotor and coil. also a new disstributor. and same thing. What is going on here. my neighbor and i are fresh out of ideas. the only thing that was done since the first time it was running i hooked up some gauges inside the car. supposed to hook them up to a 12v switched sorce so there was a plug just hanging under the dash that was not pluged into anything. So i have no idea. Oh there is like 3 wires that come off the starter and go to the inside on is cut and never been used since i got the car. we took that wire and went dirrectly to the distributor and that didnt. help either. any suggestions would be great.

just checking as you have pretty much replaced the entire dist twice there... wouldnt assume both were bad next i would say you arent getting power to the correct terminal on the dist

tach wire has to do with the coil, prolly have a grounded tach on the dash
