2 regulators in a month?

i need major help with my engine. i took the car in to the mechanics because it was running real rich. turned out the fuel regulator needed to be switched because it was gushing fuel. gas got mixed with oil. then about a week later same symptoms. he switches the regulator again. firs time he said there was a bunch of crap in there and the gasket ruptured. second time he said there wasnt that much stuff in there. then my fuel pump goes out. so i go have that fixed by the same guy. he said it was a nightmare with all the wiring but its all good now he assures me. well my car is back to running rich. pretty much same as it did before a new regulator. but with a new one it runs great then all of a sudden car starts running like crap again.
please help. if i can get it fixed i gotta get rid of this thing.

Pull the hose on the FPR again and see if it's leaking. Are you using a fuel with some sort of additives? The FPR diaphragm might not tolerate some fuel additives.

well im not using any fuel additives. i just use premium fuel from shell and BP because those are the ones around here. is there anything that could cause both regulators to crap out?

Nasty sediment in the tank and fuel system would have an effect on the regulator disc valve and seat, but shouldn't affect the diaphragm unless the filter is completely gone and the chunks are large enough to pierce the diaphragm. If that's the case, the pump would be a significant concern sooner than later.
