STIFF GAS PEDAL- ANY IDEAS???

Hi, i have a 92 RS and the previous owner swapped out the v6 for a 350 V8 and for some reason the gas pedal is really really stiff. what can i do??

Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle linkage and then you can work the throttle linkage/valve by itself on the tb as well as working the cable to the gas pedal itself.

If the linkage itself is stiff, lube it up and make sure the throttle blades arent dragging, if the stiffness is from the cable/pedal, its probably your cable but you could lube any moving parts on the pedal assembly to see if that helps.

I ran into this problem once and it was as simple as having an improper throttle return spring installed. Remove the spring, with the car off of course, and see if the pedal moves freely. If so, the dealer will have the right spring pretty cheap.

If the P.O. converted it to a carbureted setup, it might be using dual return springs, which can be quite stiff. Removing one will soften the feel. (But I can't say, because we don't know if your car has TPI or a carburetor)

alrighty, thanks. And the P.O. took out the V6 TPI and put in a 350 V8- carb
