Alright, ladies n gents, im dumping my 84 z28 project for a 91 rs. The 91' has been altered for dragging and he says its rigged to have "manual steering". the first thing that popped into my mind was "Oh shyt, I want POWER STEERING. Since I know almost NOTHING about power steering, what will i need to put my power steering BACK into this car? Btw, for $400, the body hasnt been cut on, comes with NEW 3.73 gears and new shorty heads. no motor or trans sadly and the interior has been gutted. only thing left on the inside is the dash gauges and steerng wheel.

 

It depends what he did to it. The "right" way to convert to manual steering is to swap in a steering box from a manual steering s10, or even swap in a manual rack. Reason being is that it's geared lower than a power steering box, and not so hard to turn when sitting still. However, if he has only removed the pump and disconnected the lines from the stock steering box, then all you'll need to do is re-install a pump, and reconnect the lines.

 

I still have EVERYTHING from my '91 RS LO3 from when I parted it out (didn't sell any parts so far) before having the totalled shell crushed. So once you get some pics from under the hood of your '91 RS, I can answer this precisely.
