Alternatives wire heat shielding

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to clean up the engine bay. I purchased new tall valve covers and if the shielding around the wiring harness was smaller I could hide them between the valve covers and runners. Do I need the plastic heat shielding? Is there something else that is a smaller diameter that I can use?

Also submit pics if you have cleaned up the wiring in your engine bay.

Thanks!
