leaking coolant near rear intake manifold
leaking coolant near rear intake manifold

87' pontiac firebird t.a. 305 FI
i have a problem and i can't seem to get it fixed.
awhile ago my i replaced the intake manifold gaskets, there seemed to be a coolant leak around it so i replaced it and the problem went away. a couple of months later i started to smell burnning coolant, i inspected it once again and found a leak on the rear right/passenger side of the engine where the remote ingnition coil harness was bolted down with the manifold bolts. i took it apart and looked inside only to find that the whole engine was full of mixed coolant and oil. the gaskets a ruined and so i have to replace them again, but before i do i'd like some helpful advice from some who has experience. please help me!

Did you apply RTV around the coolant ports? Both sides of the gasket and run the bead into the rear china wall. That'll seal it up.
Re: leaking coolant near rear intake manifold
me and my buddie did that though, it still leaks, and when it leaks it sprays out from the bolt and below between the intake and block.

The bolt is not connected to the coolant port either the head or the manifold is cracked.

How long did ya let the RTV dry?
Had lots of pro's even GM engineer say to only use RTV for the china walls on the ends.
For the rest of it use ThreeBond 1194 as once RTV is set, thats it.
3B is a semi drying liquid gasket and seals better in the long haul.
YamahaBond use to be good also till they changed it.
