Bolt snapped

Bolt snapped

The bolt for my starter broke off about a 1/4 inch into the block at the threrads.. how do i remove the bolt piece stuck up inside?

If there is nothing to grab, I would drill it out and retap it. Center punch it first and make sure you drill straight. You can try an EZ out, but don't put much pressure on it. If you snap that off in there, you're really in trouble.

Try an EZ out. The work most of the time. Especially if it is not a hardened bolt.

When drilling the hole for the EZ out, use a left handed drill bit. Sometimes you'll get lucky and that will spin it out. Is this the bolt on the edge of the block? If so, watch out. I've seen a few blocks crack right there.
