My 85 Camaro smokes while it runs & choke dosent close

So i have a 1985 camaro and the carbureator choke is like screwing me over. i placed a battery in the car and it started right up. But my problem is that when it was running it started smoking on the inside like something was on fire. i thought it was leaves burning, but it was not. i need help. After i cut the car off it never started again HELPP!!!!

Where exactly was the smoke coming from? What is it not doing now? Will it crank? and just not fire? How long had it been sitting previously? What condition are the rest of the ignition parts in? Is it getting gas?
