Need help finding HEI distributor application

I recently purchased what is supposed to be a "small cap GM HEI" distributor, the number stamped into it is 1103880 and I can't find it's original application. I want to get the harnesses to adapt it to my car, which I found, but I'd like to know what this fit before going thru the expense, can anybody help with finding the information?

Is it a HEI with the coil in cap or a regular F-body one with remote coil?
These are adapter harnesses available for $15 that allow you to plug the large HEI plug into small cap dist

Re: Need help finding HEI distributor application

If it's a Chevy V8 small cap HEI (big block or small block) they're pretty much all the same. GM really simplifed it's selection of distributors when, thanks to computer controls, they no longer needed different springs/weights/vacuum cans to dial in different advance curves for different applications.

I've got several out in the garage from different motors (small block TPI, small block TBI and big block TBI) over a pretty wide range of years. There isn't a lick of difference between them that I can see.

It's the small cap with the remote coil assy. On the harness, I've been told that I need 3 harnesses, the first is the "Distributor adapter - large cap to small" the 2nd is the "TPI coil to distributor" harness, and the 3rd is the "Coil Pigtail" and all three add up to about $45, is this not correct information?

The distributor I have has an entirely different style reluctor wheel in it and I'm hesitant to go and buy the adapters until I find it will fit my car. Also, there was some rust on the reluctor that the previous owner cleaned off, so I'm not sure the clearances are correct, and if replacement parts are needed then what application do I buy them for?

Correct.
You only need the coil pigtail if using a coil with the OE style plug; aftermarket ( cheaper ) coils just have terminals you extend the wires from the coil to dist pigtail to.
The dist to coil pigtail you could get from a wrecking yard ( you have to extend the wiring to your new coil location anyway ) so the only one you have to buy is the large to small cap adapter harness
If you knew you weren't ever going to go back to a HEI dist , you could get a small cap harness pigtail also from a wrecker and splice it in saving $$$

Re: Need help finding HEI distributor application

Although there have been good replies, I still don't know the application for MY distributor, which was the original intent of the thread. Isn't there either a conversion chart or book someplace to find the original application for this number??
