belt routing diagram for V-Belt equipped firebird
Hey guys im going to be removing the smog pump from my 83 LG4 equipped firebird and have scoured the internet all day to try to find a routing diagram that isnt the serpentine pattern. could anyone please post up such a diagram?
also does anyone have a write up of what all hoses and lines are part of the smog system? underneath the hood of my car it looks like a spiderweb of vaccum hoses and i dont want to remove or plug up something vital.
thank you in advance.

It might help top post the model year of your car. IIRC, there were differences between model years.

Why are you taking it off? Is this a street car?
Autozone.com might have it. The decal showing it is gone from my car, so I can't take a pic & post it for ya.

it is a FEDERAL requirement to have, regardless of state inspections.....
it costs you less than 1 horsepower.....
requires a lot more than simply unbolting it & your done.
There is the AIR tubes on the exhaust, the tube to the cat, the valve/box thingy (dunno what its called).....that is all connected to the smog pump in one way or another.

Correct. But why do you want to remove it? You may be in Florida, but....

i also have a set of hooker super comps that will be going into the car soon which will be made easier without the maze of pointless pipes spanning every bit of free space for the purpose of "injecting clean air into my exhaust".

I'd like to remove it to clear up space and weight in the engine bay as well as the few horsepower that doing so will net.

This has been discussed before....
Dyno it before & after. You won't get any more HP than you would get in the variation between 2 back to back runs.
You'll hafta pull a lot more than just the pump anyways, then plug things shut.
