Car is slow when taking off

On my 383 camaro my car is seriously slow when taking off. I raced a 2001 protege and no joke it beat me off the line and up to about 25 mph. My car acts like it has no power. Now i have read about carbuetors and stuff before and how to hook up the vacuum lines but i still cant figure it out. To top it off when i go to do a burnout it acts like it can only spin them so fast which would close to 10 mph. Once they start spinning at 10mph it acts like it has hit a brick wall. I was hoping it would get better overtime but it hasnt so now before drag season gets any closer i wunna try to fix this annoying thing. But after 25 mph it gets it. When accelerating it acts like you push a nitrous button it goes from accelerating slowly to super fast and puts you back in your seat. so im wondering if its a fuel problem or something. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Car is slow when taking off

383 stroker cam makes power around 2500 rpm's i guess what i really want to know is how you are supposed to hook up the vacuum lines on the carb i know i wasnt really specific but im just not sure where it all should go. I mean i have my ideas but i dont wunna be wrong. right now i have the timing advance line on the passenger side nipple of the carburetor. The pcv valve is routed into a splitter and goes around to the back of the carb with the brake booster vacuum. and the big middle nipple is plugged.

Re: Car is slow when taking off

Well we need more details on the motor itself carb size cam specs stuff like that even stall speed for the torque converter. As far as the vacuum lines everything can be plugged for testing purposes except the vacuum advance. Furthermore the vacuum advance cant just be hooked to any port it has to be hooked to the one specifically meant for the vacuum advance. Most ports are just strait manifold vacuum however the one for the distributor has 0 hgs at idle and builds with RPM. But again you may have a combo that is going to inherently be bad from a launch or a mix matched build that just wont work well.
