Re: smog delete pulley?

why get the pulley when you can just reroute the belt and eliminate the pulley alltogether.

Re: smog delete pulley?

i just thought it might look a little weird with that big space empty....maybe fill it with a nice polished pulley and it would look like somthing was actually supposed to be in that space.

Re: smog delete pulley?

Remove the A/C, swap to the 1/2 serp 1/2 V-belt setup from the IROC's (especially since you're going to TPI anyway), and it'll look mucho better!

Re: smog delete pulley?

FYI- there is a tech article on this board about how to remove the smog pump and install a shorter (96.8") belt with slightly different routing to keep everything else functional.

I'm one of many here who has done it. It works just fine. Visually, you don't really notice becuase the remaining bracketry down there is low in the engine bay, pretty much out of sight from above. If you want to really do a clean install it wouldn't take much to remove that bracketry entirely.

Re: smog delete pulley?

I have wanted to remove the bracket entirely but would lose the belt tensioner, so you would have to switch to vbelt set up, which might require a different alternator. This has been my main concern for removing the bracketry.

Re: smog delete pulley?

It would be nice to be able to run the factory bracket and use a V-belt. I wonder if there is a V-belt tensioner out there that bolts on... hmmm.

Re: smog delete pulley?

you could always hack off the portion of the bracket not needed and then polish it yourself. thought about doing that myself

Re: smog delete pulley?

Don't need one take the pump off and reroute the serpentine. There is a way to route it without the smog pump pulley that lets you use the same size belt.

Re: smog delete pulley?

I removed my pump and didn't do anything with the bracket or the belt. just reroute it. Like stated earlier, you can't even see where the smog pump was from the top. I think it looks better w/o adding a delete pulley.
