tall valve cover clearance

Hey guys,

question.....anyone running tall aluminum valve covers.....are you having any clearance issues with hitting power terminal of alternator (where you bolt on power wire to back of alternator)...I am running a set of tall steel moroso covers and had to slightly clearance the corner of the cover to clear that little bolt that attaches to power wire on alternator. I am wanting to go to aluminum set. Oh, I am running perimeter bolt coves at moment, but might would like to switch to center bolt again. (yes my heads accept both styles)

Re: tall valve cover clearance

I am running the tall AFR valve covers. It is a tight fit below the alternator but everything fits well.

Re: tall valve cover clearance

you can spin the case to put the terminal on top

just take out the four long bolts and spin

Re: tall valve cover clearance

I have tall aluminum edelcraps.
It was extremely close. I ended up cutting down the stud for a bit of extra safety.

Re: tall valve cover clearance

my fabbed covers fit with not issues. my heads accept both styles of covers too but i run centerbolt bc its easy access to the bolts.

Re: tall valve cover clearance

Thanks guys....appreciate it. Would hate to spend money on new covers and not fit.

Second question if I may.....will tall centerbolt valve covers clear roller rockers (the bolts going between the rockers)?? I am running stainless steel comp rockers (thinner than aluminum ones). I believe they should just fine...just thougt I'd double check.

Re: tall valve cover clearance

they should. i have proform narrow body roller rockers. mine clear my centerbolt convers...they are extruded aluminum but they are narrower/thinner than regular aluminum rockers i had on my dads 86 305 TA.

as long as the rockers are narrow body they are designed to clear centerbolt valve covers. they should be fine. u might have to grind some of the valve cover depending on the application. and most ppl have to grind the oil baffel under the valve cover (if equipped)
