Re: intake manifold bolt torque?

3/8" bolts are usually about 35 ftlbs. Since it's aluminum, and just holding down the intake manifold, 25-30ft lbs should work fine.

Re: intake manifold bolt torque?

I've torqued too many 3/8" bolts to worry about using a torque wrench any more. 35-42 pounds is fine. Start with the 4 center bolts (if the manifold has any) and snug them up. Then do the front 4, then the rear 4. Go around and do them all again and double check a third time. By then they should all have an equal torque.

As mentioned above, they don't need a huge amount of clamping force. All they're doing is sealing the intake gaskets. You don't want to crush the gasket from over torquing.

Re: intake manifold bolt torque?

Strange. Which bolt set did you buy? You remember the part number?
Shouldn't matter, I doubt the thickness difference is enough to make a difference.

Re: intake manifold bolt torque?

oohhhh! 4/12 washers have a smaller OD ! Not "thinner" right?

Yea, you'll know when you go to install them I thought it was the inner 4 bolts, there is very little room, and a full size SAE washer wouldn't fit. I think I used AN washers on mine.... (AN washers have a much smaller OD compared to an SAE washer, which is smaller than a USS washer, which is smaller than a "fender washer").

Re: intake manifold bolt torque?

thanks.

yeah you can see in the pic of the part number i put 4 are different. i never dealt with that.

the stock bolts are on there now and there's no washers that's whay i figured it would be hard to figure out where they went.
