Which cam to get?

I have a set of 305HO heads off a 87 camaro, casting 14102187; 58cc chambers, 1.85 intake/1.5 exhaust. They are going onto a 350 with a stock rotating assembly, question is which cam should I get. I know it should be a low-mid rpm range cam... cam I was looking at is Duration 250/256, Lift .437/.454.
Any better suggestions?

No cam suggestion from me - but ...

Port/Polish those heads and open up the chambers and unshroud the valves on them before you put them in - they are decent heads with a little bit of work. There's an old thread on here from Sitting Bull about doing the head work on your own - and if I can do it, anyone can!

14102187...87-91...305..........1.84"/1.5" valves

aka - "swirl ports"

Not "HO" heads (no engine was designated "HO" after '86), not even LG4 heads.

Keep the lift and the RPMs low. Dished pistons, I hope.

Re: Which cam to get?

Oh - I'm confused - I thought the 187's were similar to the 416's.

Which heads were similar to the 416's?
