fuel pump!!
my fuel pump is making a really loud whining noise when the car warms up. it doesnt do it when its cold. it also wants to stall sometimes at lights and i have already checked/replaced everything. and started my car up a few minutes ago and it sounded like a damn airplane starting up and then it died. it restarted fine. sometimes the car wil act like it is trying to start but wont but if i give it a little bit of gas it will run but wont idle if i let off the gas but if i hold the rpm's up around 1500 for like ten seconds it will idle but sounds weak. going down the road it drives fine. im stumped somebody please help!!!

Re: fuel pump!!
Sounds like your pump is on its way out.
Usually they wok or don't. Occasionally, and this happened to my last one, It got noisy & worked on & off. I was fortunate to have it working the day the flatbed came to pick up my car, to take it to a shop to get the pump replaced.

Re: fuel pump!!
Yes, get a good brand name pump, spend the extra money. Bosch or AC delco. otherwise you'll have problems again soon. Also change you fuel filter, and you should do so every other oil change, they are cheap. Most fuel pump failure is caused by restrictions in the filter, especially on thirdgen (or any GM from that era.)
