Removing A/C

I am not sure where I should put this question so I decided it would go best here. I guess..

I have a 86 5.0L camaro. The A/C doesn't work and I probably wouldn't use it anyways. Would it be too much of a task to take the belt off? I am sure that it is just a single belt from the A/C to the engine so couldn't I just cut it to relieve some stress on the motor?

Give me your thoughts! Thanks!

Re: Removing A/C

The compressor doesnt draw any power unless the clutch is locked. V belt systems can disable an accessory by simply removing the belt
