CANT GET CLAMPS TO STOP LEAK!!! HELP
haha hey its me Jon again, i love this forum from all the help ive gotten so far so i need another helpful handful of guys. I replaced the vaccum lines and heater valve on 88 trans am. well on the heater valve the heater core hoses and radiator hose keeps leaking antifreeze and its dripping on headers, (hinse the smell) i have the correct size pipe and have always use the metal screw band clamps. ive taken off and retightened but they still are dripping every i saye 30 secs to a minute. but if i flex the valve and hoses sometimes it will SPRAY!!! these clamps cant hold the pressure or what??? what do i need to do? different kind of clamps or some type or sealer/glue? pipe tape hahaa what? thanks!!

You can try first removing the hose then sanding the bib to remove any rust. Then look inside the hose to see if there's any rust build up that would prevent a clean, tight seal. If there is, remove it.
You could also try a different type of heavy-duty clamp. Some are designed to have more holding/clamping force than others. They have a wider band and are of heavier construction and many have a 5/16" screw head.

well, first check to make sure the heater valve isn't broken. It you overtighten it, it will break the plastic. Take the valve off and inspect it closely to make sure there aren't any hairline cracks. Next, I would try to get new worm clamps (what you are using). The next step would be t-claps (like used on turbo tubing) but I doubt they make them that small. I never had issues with my heater valve before I removed it. Does your heater valve have the ribbed/flaired end?
