wiring for Carberated engine??
hello fellow camaro enthusiasts i am new to third-gen forums. okay i have an LT1 350 5.7L it was originally TBI but changed it over to carburated so i don't have to deal with the wiring and ecu controlled components. I plan on putting it into a 90 camaro Rs, but my question is.... what wiring would i still need from the stock 3.1L mpi engine? also if anyone has any experience with rocker arms what is the torque specs for the LT1?... I've been searching every website and it says 8.3 ft/pounds for the rocker arm cover bolts, but my torque wrench doesn't go that low, is there anyway to tell whether they are too torqued? I am 17 if that explains why I'm asking many questions. please get back to me as soon as possible.

( Like a HEI ) , mounted in the intake; no LT1 spark electronics ?
With a reg dist ,all you need is a 12V supply when the key is on to the dist ;which would have come of the 3.1 dist ( usually a thick pink wire )
The white next to it gets hooked up to run the tacho

The entire pass side wiring harness can be removed - that's all ECM related wiring that won't apply to a carbed swap.

Re: wiring for Carberated engine??
I recently swapped out my 2.8 card v6 and im ready to drop in a fresh 383 stroker carburated. Can anyone let me know what im all going to be needing for wiring? I am running a HEI Distributor with vacuum advanced and im pretty sure ill be fine with the wiring for that but i dont know what im getting into with the alternator or any sensors.
Ive searched TGO alot for stickys on this but no one really posted anything on a v6 carb to a v8 carb swap...
Thanks alot

You put your carb on, swap the sensors ( for gauges ) to the new engine and remove any wiring ( to do with original injection ) that doesn't have a home .Alt wiring stays as is
Will need some means of operating fuel pump and fans if the ECM is gone

Electronic Control Module. The computer the runs the fuel injection. With a carb, it is dead weight.
Your mechanical pump might not like pulling fuel through the stock in tank pump, and filter though.......

Re: wiring for Carberated engine??
If this is the '82, then you wouldn't have a in-tank fuel pump on it since it was carbed originally - so no need for any regulator or worrying about the in-tank pump.
