Z28 engine issue need help I'm stumped
Okay so here is my problem when I have the car idling or cruzing around or about 2000 rpm and she is all nice and warm (which is about 235) she hits this wall Which I think is limp-home mode and back fires and sputers and when I let up on the gas the rev it it's okay but when I try to move again it sputers and it feels like I'm running on 2 cylinders I looked under the hood and my exhaust manifold is glowing cherry red. There are no mods to the car and it's a 5.7 tpi, and it isn't throwing a code. Iv anybody has any clues that would be great cuz I'm stuped

Okay so I took everybodys advice from another forum and I cut out the cat and removed the yhermastat to see if that helped keep the car cooler and I replaced the violent temp sensor I also replaced the distibutor and rotor button cause the were shot I wa amazed that I even had her running. After all that I thought I fixed it I got about a weeks worth then she started acting up again and blew my muffler of doing about 45 so now I'm confused again but when I cut the cat out the pipes had so much carbon in them that it looked like a draino commercial. Anybody got any other Ideas?

Have you confirmed that you timing is correct? It sounds like it is way off.

As mentioned earlier check the timing but if not it sounds like your running lean. Pull the spark plugs Ill bet there probably dead white maybe even blistered or possably coated with a black powdery substance. Check for things like vacuum leaks, EGR valve, fuel pressure ect. Are you sure that your check engine light works? Try doing a vacuum test also.

Do a COMPLETE full tune up first..means fuel filter, wires plugs air filter blah blah..then check timing...then also clean up your throttle body with intake cleaner..see how she runs..if u still have issues then you look into other things..check also for codes..
