Droping the oil pan with engine in car?
Can you drop a 3rdgen v8 oil pan with the engine still in the car with out getting hung up on anything like the pick up?

you can drop it a few inches with the engine jacked all the way up but the oil pan will not come out. maybe if the tranny and flywheel are removed

You should be able to if I remember right, but the dizzy cap and/or the whole the dizzy needs to come off and the motor jacked up as far as you can get it.

To reiterate:
Remove dizzy cap
disconnect exhaust from manifolds/headers
pull the through bolts on the motor mounts
Put the timing mark on the balancer at 6 o'clock
jack up engine 2.5 - 3"
pull pan
It'll come out.
