Where do the O-ring Valve Stem Seals go?

Car: 1984 Trans Am, 1986 Fiero SE
Engine: 5.0 H.O., 2.8
Transmission: T5, M4 Muncie
Axle/Gears: 3.73 disc posi, CAVALIER AXLES!!
Where do the O-ring Valve Stem Seals go?
Do they sit in the groove on the valve under the keeper or do you push them all the way down to the guide.....I seached the net and theres too many conflicting "guides" TIA

The o-rings go in the upper "here" spot you labeled. They seal the retainer to keep a ton of oil from even getting to the umbrella seal.

You position the o-ring on the valve stem under the keeper groove ON TOP of the spring retainer. This means you position the retainer, compress the spring, fit the o-ring and install the keepers.

Although they work, an umbrella seal on the intakes is far better.
As mentioned above, you compress the spring first then install the o-ring and keepers. If you try to install the o-ring before compressing the spring, the o-ring will get damaged or pop out of place.
