Confused about what i should do next.....

I have a 84 z28. It has a 355 with 305 (416) heads, 480 lift cam....nothing major. The car runs fine, this motor was machine about 500 miles ago.

This is going to be a street/strip car. I just dont know where i want to start. I have put a 8 point cage in it.

I just got my taxes back, i cant decide if i want to upgrade my suspension (tubular k member, lca, ect., 9" rear ( expensive...ugh), vortec heads, cam, intake, carb, custom autometer gauge cluster. I just dont know where i should start. The car is driveable now, so im thinking do the suspension and other things before the motor, but im just not sure...any advice would be great. I have so many things i want to do i just dont know where i should start. Im not really in a rush, i just enjoy having things to do. Thanks

I suggest the rear axle first. Reason is the factory rear axle is pretty weak and a 9in is indestructible I cant say what your motor puts out now or what it will in the future but with a 9 in no matter what your current motor produces or your future plans may be youll know your drive train will hold together. This would also be a good chance to switch to rear disks which are not only better than drums (im assuming thats what you have) but 100 times easier to work on. Also you didn't mention subframe connectors but another good thing to do.

i would get a 98-02 posi rear then do the LS1 front brake upgrade. then new wheels because your backspacing will need to increase. if you need more go than whoa, get some better heads.

I know that, the heads were on the motor for a while when i dropped it in. Im not getting the car out until im done, so it will have everything done when i get it out.

The motor i was planning on stroking to a 383 with vortec heads, xr 282 cam ect ect.

My problem is just deciding to do the go fast stuff, suspension or other random stuff. I just have such a big list of things i want to do, i want to get an idea and a plan of attack i guess.

i would do drivetrain (beefed trans and axles) and chassis first. then do engine last. Nothing worse than going to test drie your new engine and grenading your wimpy trans
