sheared water pump bolt

I have a lt1 motor with a water pump bolt that is sheared off at the block. I tried to drill it got a little out of center and cant get the D%&* thing out. I just know that I am screwed. I just bought this motor and missed the fact that there was a sheared bolt in the place the pump bolts up. I think I am going to try to get my money back but in the event that i get screwed there which wouldnt surprise me at this point, WHAT THE HELL DO I DO??

Re: sheared water pump bolt

get an easy out. put it in your already drilled hole, and try that method. soaking it in WD-40, or better yet, PB Blaster a few times, and letting it soak in for a day also helps.

Tried the easy out. That got me off center it broke out the side of the bolt. I have been soaking with pb buster since I found that it was broken off. Its the bottom of the three bolts. I think it will leak without the bolt in there whats everyone else think? I really hate the idea of risking it since that opti is so fussy about water and is very close to the opti.

Re: sheared water pump bolt

Ok so I trield everything else I could thik of on this bolt finally gave in and drilled the sucker. Lucky for me the wifes company reps a product line selling kits for just this type of thing(as I found out later). They normally retail these suckers for 50$ and I got mine for $10! I felt important! Anyways I was really nervous about the thought of drilling it out but it was really easy other than the long time spent running the drill tryin to get through this hard A%$ steel. I finally hit the bottom line on my drill bit and slowly started the threading process. Much to my surprise it went SMOOTH AS BUTTER! So after work tomorrow ON WITH THE PROCESS! Thanks for all the help! Oh and word of advice get the power coil brand kits if you ever need to do this. The ones at auto zone/advance/o reilleys etc. are garbage by comparison! My kit came with a drill bit, a tang breaker, the tap, and threaded inserts. A little salty at 50$ I think but I would have paid it. Its still cheaper and easier then pulling the motor and taking it to a machine shop to do the same thing.
