Rebuilding 350 TPI L98 code
I am rebuilding a 1989 GTA, The motor has a bad knock in it not sure if it is spun bearing or a thrown rod. Am starting to take apart. Wondering what to rebuild it with what type of cam heads etc or shoiuld i use as much stock as can. Want to change the cam to get a little loupy idle but nothing rediculous. Not sure where to go for parts and what name to use as far as parts go. Would like to get about 300 hp out of it. This does not have to pass any emissions or smog tests where i live with the age of the car it is visual inspection only. Any suggestions. Thanks for the help. Would also like to stay around 2500 as a budget. Thanks again for the help and reading.

fill in your user info, car details... and also do you need your setup to pass the sniffer test?

With that in mind there are alot of items that will pass emissions. Header companies do make headers with all the air tube attachments. I pass full blown e-tests with my 87'. Never had it dynoed but it has to be around that 300 mark, I have a cam, valve job, head work, various intake mods, a chip, ignition upgrades, exhaust with a cat, and it always passed. Fortunately I dont have to go through an e-test anymore.
