Re: 305 Budget Rebuild
Oh yeah I know about city motor, thats were I am going next week to get my heads for my 305. I need to be driving the can not looking at it LOL.
I was just wondering what you paid to have them do the work. it looks like you got out of there for well under 200 bucks. I am going to be doing the same thing. I found a late 70's 350 with double hump heads with 2.02/1.60 valves what I dont know is if it is a 4 bolt block or not. He is up in Denton and drives down 35e on his way to work so I am tring to get him to go dowm on his price because I dont want the th 350 tranny. that way I can meet him on the highway to get it and not drive all the way to Denton.

There is NOTHING special about that late 70s 350 and magical double hump heads. You don't want either. I have 3 roller cam 350 bare blocks sitting in my garage. ROLLER CAM BLOCK + VORTEC HEADS = MUCH MORE POTENTIAL for HP and a cheaper build. You could take a 350 roller cam block, clearance for a stroker, buy a 383 rotating assembly, add on a set of Vortecs, and make 400+ HP with 500 ft/lbs of torque for under $2500.
