Brake problem?

okay so i got a 87 camaro (v6) for $200!! wouldnt crank so i put a new fuel pump and she fired right up well anyways my car will start up and idle but i barely have brakes.i I've noticed that its mostly when im idling or going slow but when im cruising down the street i have brakes. what could be the cause of this? when i say i barely have brakes i mean i have to push the pedal to the floor to stop (& its kind of hard to push) does this sound like a vacuum leak? any help is greatly appreciated. thanks!

Re: Brake problem?

Check the line to the brake booster, fluid level, bleed the system.

Re: Brake problem?

First thing to do is check all your vacuum lines (especially the one going from the brake booster to the plenum) for cracks and/or missing connections. It sounds like you have a slight vacuum leak but as your RPMs move higher (when your going faster) your getting enough vacuum to power the brakes correctly.
